Death is the root of the realization that we

are truly and in every way, beings of sheer

mystery. There is not one single hmnan concept

or cherished thought that maintains its all

inclusiveness and soundness in the face of our

inevitable appointment with death. It is co mm on

knowledge that the average person spends much

of their time avoiding thoughts about death,

especially their own. This is normal, and it is also

the way evolution set things up. In order for a

species to thrive, it must concem itself with life.

It must emphasize those things in creation that

best lead to its own survival. Is it any wonder

that sex is one of our most all consmning

concems? IT it were not, I can guarantee you that

the hmnan species would have died out

thousands of years ago.
